02Apps & custom software

Software built around how your business actually works.

The studio designs and builds web apps, mobile apps and the systems behind them. The same person who designs the screens also builds the backend, which keeps decisions honest and the product coherent.

Who it is for
Founders commissioning a product, and businesses that have outgrown spreadsheets, group chats and tools that almost fit.

What a project can include

Realistic deliverables. Which of these apply is decided in the scope, not assumed.

  • Discovery and a written product scope with clear priorities
  • Interface design for every role in the product, not just the customer
  • Web and mobile builds (React and Next.js on the web, Flutter for iOS and Android)
  • Backends, data models and integrations: payments, messaging, maps, third-party APIs
  • Separate development, test and production environments, with automated tests where they earn their keep
  • Launch support: app store submission, hosting, monitoring and handover documentation

Where it makes sense

  • Admin consoles and internal tools
  • Automation of repetitive back-office work
  • Architecture reviews of an existing system before deciding what to build

Examples

Fixabee customer app asking 'Tell us what you need', with example tasks such as a leaking kitchen tap or a deep clean

Fixabee

Local services marketplace. Finding reliable help for everyday jobs usually means group chats, guesswork and cash. Providers, in turn, want a fair way to win local work without a subscription fee.

TheCocoCard customer web app showing a member's card with stamps and the member code, in the product's demo mode
TheCocoCard staff scanner after scanning a member: a coffee card at six of nine stamps with a reward waiting

TheCocoCard

Digital loyalty for independent businesses. Independent businesses want the repeat-visit tools that chains have, without an app install, without commission on sales and without handing their customer list to a third party. Customers do not want a wallet full of paper stamp cards.

How scope is agreed

  1. 01Product work starts with the problem and the people using it, then a scope that names the first useful release.
  2. 02Bigger builds are shaped into phases so you can see working software early and change course with evidence.
  3. 03Timings and commercials are agreed per phase. The studio does not promise every feature for every project.

Common questions

Can you build both the app and the backend?

Yes. The studio's own products, TheCocoCard and Fixabee, are designed, built and operated end to end: apps, backends, payments, environments and tests.

Do you work with an existing system?

Often. Integrations and improvements to an existing platform are scoped like any other work, starting with a look at what is already there.

What about support after launch?

Operating software is part of what the studio does. Ongoing support is scoped separately so both sides know what it covers.

Start an app project?

Tell the studio what you are trying to do. You get a reply from Viveak by email to arrange a conversation, and a written scope before anything is built.
